3DeVOK MT Gen2 Advanced 3D Scanner
In the fields of digital manufacturing, design, and reverse engineering, high-precision, stable, and reliable 3D scanning is the core step in rapid prototyping, quality inspection, and digital reconstruction. Scantech's 3DeVOK series 3D scanning devices, combined with marker blocks, maintain precise tracking throughout the scanning process, making every scan efficient, stable, and reproducible.

1. Introduction to Marker Blocks
Concept Overview:
Concept Overview:
A marker block is a small block with high-contrast markers. It helps 3D scanning devices continuously track the object's position during scanning, preventing lost markers or alignment errors.
- Reusable: reduces marker consumption and saves costs.
- Multi-angle reference: provides markers from all directions for the object, improving scanning accuracy.
- Easy to mount: magnets or Blu-Tack can be embedded in the base, making it easy to attach to different object surfaces.
- Enhanced scanning of complex surfaces: provides side references for smooth or unmarked areas, ensuring a complete model.
Preparing the marker blocks:
- Apply markers onto the marker block (6 mm markers are preferred), following the grooves and the illustration. The marker block file is available from our sales or technical staff, and you can print it yourself.

2. Correct Use of Marker Blocks
There are three key principles for placing marker blocks when scanning an object:
1. Even distribution
Place the marker blocks around the object so that the scanner can identify at least 4 markers from any angle.
2. Avoid occlusion
Do not place marker blocks where they are easily blocked by your hands or the device.

Do not apply markers in an overly regular pattern, to avoid confusing the scanning algorithm.
3. Use in combination
For large objects or objects with simple surfaces, use individual markers together with the blocks to improve recognition.
3. Demonstration (Practical Examples)
During operation, make sure the object and the marker blocks do not deform or move. The following are three common placement patterns:
Example 1: Scanning a small object
- Placement: arrange four marker blocks in a square around the object.
- Result: ensures every corner of a small object can be scanned and recognized.

Example 2: Scanning an elongated object
- Placement: place marker blocks in a staggered pattern on both sides of the object, ensuring markers are recognizable at both ends.
- Result: prevents missing data at the ends of elongated objects.

Example 3: Scanning an irregular object
- Placement: attach marker blocks at varying heights to increase angular coverage.
- Result: improves the completeness and accuracy of scanning every surface of an irregular object.

4. Precautions
1. Avoid using a single block: one marker block alone can easily cause alignment failure; use at least four.
2. Ensure secure fixing: if marker blocks move during scanning, data errors will result, so make sure there is no displacement between the object and the marker blocks.
3. Replace worn marker blocks promptly:
Worn or discolored markers affect scanning recognition.
4. Avoid repeated occlusion: check that markers are not blocked during scanning, especially while your hands or the device are moving.
5. Tips
- Try different placements: when scanning different objects, experiment a few times to find the most suitable marker layout.
- Store after scanning: after scanning, remember to put them away neatly for next time!
- Results:
Using marker blocks correctly can significantly improve scanning smoothness and alignment stability.
The resulting model is higher quality with more complete detail.

Advantages of the 3DeVOK Series
- High-precision scanning: rapidly captures industrial-grade 3D models with accurate detail.
- Stable recognition: marker blocks help the device track the object's position and reduce alignment errors.
- Versatile applications: suitable for product design, reverse engineering, cultural heritage preservation, education and training, and more.
- Efficient workflow: reduces post-processing repairs and improves overall scanning efficiency.
