3D Scanning<\/h2>\n

Qing embroidery is a traditional form of Chinese folk embroidery, commonly found in Qinghai Province, China. We took out the SIMSCAN laser 3D scanner and chose a resolution of 0.2 mm to scan this red embroidery. During the 3D scanning process, the embroidery is kept upright with supports placed on both sides, but with as little deformation as possible. Our purpose of this 3D scan is to obtain 3D data of the external contours of the embroidery, and as for the texture details, they can be ignored because they need to be mapped later. If you want to get the texture details of the surface in this step of the 3D scan, you can turn down the resolution to a lower level.<\/p>\n

Taking photos<\/h2>\n

Next, lay the embroidery flat and take pictures from the front and the back, taking one round at about 60 degrees on the front side, and then angle the camera to be about even with the transitional part of the edges of the embroidery on both sides, but make sure that you can capture the patterned pad, and the reverse side as well. The reason for doing this is that the edge part may affect the mapping effect if it is not shot in focus.<\/p>\n

3DeVOK Mapping Software<\/h2>\n

For this embroidery model, to get a high-definition 3D texture mapping result, it needs to be relatively oriented in two groups. Two circles on the front are one group, and two circles on the back are one group. Both groups are selected for mapping at the same time after processing in the photo library. The individual font parts may be a little blurred and can be replaced by inlay line editing.
