Whether a 3D scanner can acquire accurate data of a deep hole is crucial for engineering, manufacturing and many other industries. Therefore, we conducted a quick test between two of our popular 3D scanners, iReal 2E 3D color scanner and SIMSCAN 3D laser scanner from Scantech, to see how they perform.<\/p>\n<p>To help better understand the deep hole scanning capability of the two 3D scanners, we came up with a notion called \u201cL\/D\u201d, referring to the ratio of the hole diameter (D) to the hole depth (L). To begin with, we 3D printed three different types of prosthetic cavities using Raise 3D Pro2 Plus 3D.
